Physical Education and Sports Funding

Here at Brookside Primary School we feel that PE and Sport are a very important part of a child’s life, therefore we take pride in ensuring that every child reaches their full potential in Physical Education and School Sport. Every child receives two hours of Physical Education lessons during curriculum time per week, along with a wide range of optional sporting activities and coaching available at playtimes, lunchtimes and after school in order to help the children be more physically active.

There is significant evidence to show the positive effects of sport and exercise on children’s physical health, growth and development. Furthermore, sport also provides a healthy environment for young people to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing.

The Sport Premium is being used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision in School. Here is how we have used the Sports Premium funding and our targets for the future.

We also attend a range of school sporting events competing with other schools in the area, due to this our entry into the School Games Programme received a Bronze Award for the academic year 2022/2023. Well done Brookside!
